I try to explain by drawing a parallel between slides and screw fixings - they are everywhere, but you don't always see them.
Look around and you will see them in kitchen drawers, filing cabinets in cash tills. Sometimes they are hidden, but still provide the movement in sliding car armrests and inside ticket machines. Occasionally you can be surprised by just how much they are part of our lives; from cradle to grave.
The pictures tell the story.
